The LaunchPad Kickoff $1K Pitch Competition and BBQ
A LaunchPad event

Accelerator Centre
295 Hagey Boulevard, Waterloo Ontario

Approximately 6 companies will pitch, with $1,000 in prize money up for grabs.

In order to be one of the pitches which could be selected, you must complete a ballot (you can pick one up at any one of our events) and drop it off in the ballot box at events. On Thursday, Oct 9th, we'll be drawing just six pitches to participate on Friday Oct 10th at the Lauchpad Kickoff event. Good luck!

This event is FREE to attend

How do I compete in this event?

Majid, you have to have a great pitch.

You must fill out a ballot during one one of the events at Entrepreneur Week (Thursday Oct 9 is the deadline), and drop it in the ballot box at that event.

Only six proposals will be selected (by random selection) to compete for the cash on Friday, Oct 10, at the LaunchPad Kickoff.

Thanks for the response Thom! One more question:

Should the pitch me catered towards an investor or customer/user audience?

Majid, you decide. Since you won't know who will be judging the pitch, my suggestion is to try to mitigate between the two. I was tempted to tell you to appeal to the masses, but with this crowd, you never know.

Don't forget - we can only accommodate so many pitches, so there's just a chance you could be selected to pitch.

Hi Thom, thanks for the info! I am interested in participating the pitch competition as well. I wonder what info we need to provide with the ballot?

Thanks!

The pitch ballots are dead simple:
- First Name/Last Name
- Company or Organization Name
- Telephone
- Email
- A very short description (it's only used to be sure you actually have a pitch, it won't be qualified based on the little description you put in there)

That's it. You can pick up a ballot and fill it out at just about any regular eweek event. You have until 3:00pm on Thursday evening to get it in the ballot box (which is also travelling around to events). The pitches will be selected at random on Thursday evening, and we'll call the selected "pitchers" that evening to confirm. Those doing a pitch have to be at the event the next morning and ready to pitch to the audience. The winners will be selected at the event by audience ballot.

Don't wait til Thursday! Get those pitches in there!

Thanks for your prompt reply Thom! I've picked up a ballot during the speed dating event and I am going to drop it off at the next event before this Thursday!

It will be great if you can list the selected "pitchers" on the e-week website as well ... just my 2-cent :)

Hello Thom,

Just wondering what the time restriction on the pitch might be.

Thank you Shar.

Hi Shar, each pitch is only given 90 seconds. Check a prior post, we just announced the six which were selected.

Thank you Thom.
